A firm favourite among kids is defiantly the 4km walk in the grounds of Mount Falcon, where if you’re lucky and have your wits about you may spot some squirrels in the trees, ducks in the pond and fish jumping in the lake. One sight that is a must to go and explore is the extensive family of wild rabbits that inhabit the estate. Trying to count them is great fun and we’re almost certain we’ve seen a little blue coat on one of them. There is a lovely small playground that’s build into the surroundings you’d nearly miss it, so exploring the estate is a must.
The rain is never an issue in Mount falcon with a 17m indoor heated pool and fully equipped gym, the kids will have a ball and Mummy and Daddy can relax in the Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. As a special treat after working up an appetite in the leisure centre why not book Afternoon Tea for the family and relax and unwind in the main house of the Estate where you’ll see original features of the old estate house.
The town of Ballina is only a short three minute drive away where a bustling town centre with many shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs are available. The local state of the art cinema shows all the latest films and if you’d like the children to burn off some of their energy after eating all their Easter eggs the outdoor playground or the soft play centre ‘Tumble Jungle’ are available. For some culture the Jackie Clarke in the heart of Ballina is child friendly and has free admission or a short drive along the Céide Coast will bring you to the Céide Fields visitor Centre.
