Mount Falcon Angling Hub of Ireland's North West

The Moy is the most prolific salmon river in Ireland, with an annual rod catch of approximately 9,000 fish (one third of the annual Irish catch). Mount Falcon owns the fishing rights on a 2 mile double bank stretch just a few miles above the tide. The fishing is run exclusively for the guests staying at the hotel and lodges, so there is no overcrowding.

As well as the river Moy the region is blessed with a number of other superb salmon fisheries. Within an hours drive of Mount Falcon are not only a number of prolific spate river fisheries, but also lakes where you can cast a fly for spring salmon, summer salmon and grilse. Mount Falcon is pleased to be able to offer guests the opportunity to fish a variety of these waters as part of a 4 day stay. The waters that form part of our 3 Rivers Fly Fishing Packages include, The Owenduff, The Erriff, Moy (Mount Falcon/Moy Fishery beats), and Beltra and Carramore lakes. While a number of the above venues do produce sea trout (mainly as a by-product of salmon fishing), the main venue in the region for this species is the Moy Estuary. While they are caught by a variety of methods more anglers are turning to fly fishing either from the shore or a drifting boat.

The Great Western Lakes are justifiably famous for the quality of their wild brown trout fishing. As part of our 3 Loughs Package we offer a four day stay in a Courtyard Lodge with 3 consecutive days fishing, one day on Lough Mask, one day on Lough Conn, and one day on Lough Carra. Our 3 acre spring fed estate lake offers year round fly fishing for hard fighting rainbow trout. The sea angler is well catered with the sheltered waters of Clew Bay, and Kilalla Bay providing the opportunity to fish for a diverse range of species including blue shark, and common skate.

The numerous shore marks enable the land based angler to try for a variety of fish, using either traditional shore methods or the increasingly popular saltwater fly fishing technique. Pike abound in both the large waters such as Conn and Mask, and in the more intimate waters such as Derryhick and Levally Lakes. Every year pike in excess of 25lb are taken, let us arrange for a specialist pike guide to take you fishing, the pike of a lifetime awaits.
