The salmon season on the River Moy opens on 1st February and closes on 30th September.
The hotel owns the fishing rights (both banks) on a 2 mile stretch of the river. As the Mount Falcon water is only a few miles above the tidal waters our guests regularly catch silver, sea-liced fish straight off the tide.
The fishing is exclusive to hotel guests only and the beats can accommodate a maximum of 12 anglers. The lower beat is mainly slow, deep water and fish are mainly taken on bait and spinner. The upper beat contains The Wall Pool and Connor’s Gap. When water levels permit these pools provide excellent fly fishing.
Guests will be greeted on arrival by The Fishery Manager or Estate Ghillie who will advise on the best methods and pools for the day and guide them to their beats. Given advanced notice dedicated guest ghillies can be arranged.
We carry a full range of rental equipment, rods, reels, waders and wet weather gear. The Estate is also authorised to issue State Fishing Licences. Bait and Flies tied specifically for use on the Moy and local rivers and lakes are available for purchase.
Casting lessons and tuition can be arranged.
Our Rod Room/Drying Room provides a secure place to store your assembled rod (and dry out your wet clothing). The room also contains a freezer and fridge for storing your catch (smoking can also be arranged).

While we have no objection to anglers taking fish for the table we do encourage catch and release. For every fish returned we make a donation to the valuable work being carried out by The North Atlantic Salmon Conservation Organisation.
