Mount Falcon Salmon Fishery
Mount Falcon Estate, lies between Foxford and Ballina, in County Mayo. It is comprised of the Mount Falcon Hotel, fisheries, and a small number of luxury suites, located in Lakeside, Courtyard and Woodland settings around the 100 acre Estate.
The “Castle" was created from the love of one young man for his new bride – Miss Nina Knox-Gore of Belleek Manor. He agreed that she was so special she deserved to live in a castle. The finest architect of that time, James Franklin Fuller was commissioned to construct a palatial home at Mount Falcon in 1876. Then, in 1932 Mount Falcon was purchased by Major and Constance Aldridge who ran it season after season as one of the finest shooting and fishing lodges in Ireland.
Following extensive restoration and redevelopment, Mount Falcon Estate opened in August 2006 and has quickly established itself as the leading leisure facility in the West of Ireland, highly acclaimed by a litany of third parties including the AA, Failte Ireland, Conde Naste, Best Loved, Manor Houses, Good Food, Georgina Campbell and Lucinda O’Sullivan.
2009 Mount Falcon was Award AA Hotel of the Year 2009 - 2010.

With our family connections originating in the area we had the privilege of spending our youthful summers working on our uncles farms in the region and this experience instilled in us a love for the county and particularly the people of Mayo. Throughout our lives our interest in a range of outdoor pursuits led us to explore the region further and the county’s bountiful offering of spectacular mountains, bogs, lakes, rivers and coastlines became apparent to us. Apart from its breathtaking topography, the county is steeped in a deep sense of history as testified by the litany of megalithic tombs, Neolithic habitations and monastic settlements that through time have influenced the culture and personality of the county’s greatest feature, it’s people. It is undoubtedly the natural warmth of the county’s inhabitants that continually drew us back to the region and which ultimately lead us to develop Mount Falcon as you find it today. Hence whether you happen to be here on business or leisure please feel free to ask us for guidance in order for us to ensure we maximise whatever opportunity you have to explore all that the region offers.
