Game anglers coming to stay at
Mount Falcon are truly spoilt for choice. On our door step we have first class
salmon fishing on the river Moy, wild brown trout fishing on Loughs Conn and Cullin (Mask and Corrib are both within easy reach), to the west lies Carramore Lake where spring salmon and grilse are taken on the fly, while a short drive away is Burrishoole system where fly anglers catch grilse from a drifting boat using trout flies and trout rods. The area also provides spate river fishing for salmon and sea-trout, estuary
sea-trout fishing (bait & fly), and wild brown trout fishing on less well know streams and rivers.
Coarse fish also abound with pike, perch, roach, rudd and bream being found in a number of waters nearby. The local anglers tend to concentrate solely on game fish so the coarse angler will find no overcrowding on the waters. The area has always been famous for it’s pike, and over the years Lough Conn especially has produced some monsters. Pike still abound in Conn and in some of the smaller lakes in the area. Fly fishing has now become popular for pike and a number of local guides are specialist in this field.
Kilalla Bay and Clew Bay are both noted sea angling hotspots with 40 species being recorded.
The estate offers 2 miles of private salmon fishing on Moy, and also boasts a spring fed 3 acre trout lake. The angling is reserved strictly for guests only, no day tickets are sold for either water.
